participation and communication marks are a huge thing at my uni. gotta say something every week to get a decent grade. it really makes you engage with the material, rather than just regurgitate it.

SAME personally it helps me, you know, give a shit, which is something I struggle with a lot so I enjoy the motivation. I just think that asking questions off class hours is a good substitute for people who aren’t so down with speaking in class? I actually think it would sometimes be a better indicator of engaging the material because they’re not just shooting off quick answers from their notes or asking things without giving it a day’s think-through first…
